We are delighted to announce the launch of the EMQN 2027 EQA Catalogue, now available online. The new catalogue provides laboratories worldwide with access to our latest External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes, helping support quality, accuracy and confidence in genomic and molecular diagnostic testing.
Building on feedback from participants and developments across the genomic testing landscape, the 2027 catalogue introduces new schemes, expanded testing options and new areas of EQA designed to meet the evolving needs of diagnostic laboratories.
What’s new for 2027?
New EQA schemes and expanded scope
This year, we are expanding our portfolio with several important additions, including:
- Neurofibromatosis, a new EQA scheme within our Genomic and Inherited Disorders programme.
- Expanded scope for Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI), with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) assessments now supporting broader panel testing approaches.
- Continued enhancement of our Pharmacogenomics portfolio, including the addition of APOE to the Pharmacogenomics Panel EQA.
New EQA categories
The 2027 catalogue introduces exciting new areas of assessment:
- A new interpretive EQA programme designed to support laboratories involved in newborn screening.
- Coverage includes conditions such as SMA, Cystic Fibrosis, SCID and PKU, alongside panel-based assessments.
Haemato-Oncology
- A new EQA category focused on molecular testing in haemato-oncology.
- Initial areas include Myeloproliferative Neoplasms, AML and myeloid gene panels, with interpretive assessments forming an important component of the programme.
Enhanced support for laboratories
As part of our ongoing commitment to quality improvement, EMQN is also piloting a new support initiative for laboratories experiencing poor performance. Participating laboratories will have the opportunity to undertake a second round of EQA assessment using a new set of samples, helping to support continuous improvement and learning.
Easier access through our online catalogue
The online catalogue continues to make it easier for laboratories to browse schemes, compare options and access up-to-date programme information. Recent enhancements include clearer scheme information and dates, improved filtering and a more streamlined participant journey to support users worldwide.
